Senior engineers who work inside your organization, on your problem, and who stay accountable to us for whether what they build holds up.
There is a kind of work that does not survive being written into a fixed scope. The requirement moves every week, the data turns out to be different from the description of it, and the thing that actually needed building is only visible once somebody is inside the organization looking at it. The usual answer is to sell you people and let you manage them. Ours is to put our engineers alongside yours and keep the responsibility for their work with us.
Renting a person and embedding an engineer are different purchases
A staffing firm sells hours. People arrive, they take direction from your managers, and whether the work was any good stays your problem to discover. A forward deployed engagement inverts that in the one place it matters. You direct what gets worked on, and we remain answerable for whether it holds. The engineer sits in your standups, uses your tools and learns your estate, and their work is still reviewed inside our firm before it reaches your production systems.
Senior is the floor, not the aspiration
A senior engineer is our hiring floor, and it is the floor of our delivery team as well. Junior bands do not open in delivery until a lead is in place with capacity to review them, so we are never in the position where filling a seat quickly means sending somebody who needs the supervision you would end up providing. Engineers reach a permanent offer through paid trial work rather than an interview alone. Senior only is a quality control, and we treat it as one rather than as a preference to be relaxed when a request is urgent.
What stays with us while they sit with you
A founding partner or a principal owns the architecture of every engagement we take, including this one. Every change is reviewed. Evaluations and continuous integration run on the work exactly as they run on a system we deliver end to end. None of that moves because the engineer's desk is in your building, and it is the reason we can put our name to the outcome rather than to the hours.
Devices, access and who owns the code
Intellectual property is assigned at source under our operating contracts, so what our engineer writes for you is yours from the moment it exists rather than at the end of a negotiation. Engineers work on managed devices under least privilege access in every country we operate in, and the same terms hold whether the person is on our payroll or drawn from the vetted bench we keep for peaks. That last part is where arrangements of this kind usually fail a security review, so we set it identically everywhere.
Working hours that overlap yours
Our pods are built to be geographically coherent, so the people on one engagement share a working day with each other and hold a defined overlap window with you every morning. Follow the sun is a design decision here rather than a description of a timezone gap you are expected to absorb. You get live overlap for the conversations that need it, and the building day carries on after yours ends.
What an embedded engagement includes
A named senior engineer, or a small pod with a named lead, working inside your teams.
Architecture owned by a founding partner or a principal, on this work as on every other engagement.
Review, evaluations and continuous integration applied inside our firm before anything reaches yours.
Intellectual property assigned to you at source, under our operating contracts.
Managed devices and least privilege access, applied identically wherever the engineer sits.
A defined daily overlap window with your team, and a named person to escalate to.
Evidence
Zilk is an engineering firm the partners built and still run, whose people carry AI, cloud, network and security work for other organizations, which is this discipline applied to a venture of our own.
This is not a body shop and it is not a rate card. We do not sell people by the head into a backlog, we do not send junior engineers to be supervised by your leads, and we do not take a seat we cannot staff with somebody senior. An embedded engagement is still pointed at something: a system, a platform, a capability you are trying to reach. If what you want is headcount to work a queue under your own management, with the quality of the work left for you to police, a staffing firm will serve you better and cost you less than we will.
If the problem is still moving and you are not sure what to write into a scope, describe the situation and we will tell you whether embedding an engineer is the honest answer.
